In our troubled world of human conflicts and environmental tragedies, music can soothe the soul…
Started by French drummer/producer Paul Schneiter and Indian classical vocalist Tritha Sinha, Tritha Electric played its maiden concert in New Delhi in January 2012 featuring Tony Guinard on bass and Stefan Kaye on electric sitar. The band then became a trio when Mathias Durand, a flamboyant guitarist and pianist, proficient in both Western and Indian classical music, joined the band in 2014.
Ever since the band has been busy pushing and blending the musical boundaries of psychedelic rock, Indian classical and Bengali folk music. The lyrics are excavated out of ancient Indian scriptures, or written by Tritha in regional Indian languages such as Hindi, Sanskrit, Bengali and Tamil. They address pressing social and environmental issues (women’s empowerment, environmental degradation, corruption, etc…) and evoke an unending journey towards self-discovery.
Following the release of the band’s first studio album Raagas in Paris in 2017, Tritha Electric embarked on an 18-month tour which saw the band perform over 100 shows across three continents. The band was also invited to showcase at the prestigious WOMEX in Budapest (2015) as well as at IOMMA in Reunion Island (2015).
The trio is planning to release a new album called Pachamama this Fall, 2018.
